Frequently asked questions

I can't find the app after installing it.

FocusFlow is a menu-bar-only app — it intentionally does not appear in the Dock or in a window. After launching it for the first time, look for the FocusFlow icon in the top-right of your Mac's menu bar (next to Wi-Fi, battery, Control Center). Click it to open the interface.

FocusFlow isn't reading my calendar.

FocusFlow needs Calendar permission to read events. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars and make sure FocusFlow is toggled on. If it's not listed, click the menu-bar icon inside FocusFlow and open the Calendar tab — macOS will prompt for permission the first time.

How do I add the widget?

Open Notification Center by clicking the clock in the top-right of your menu bar (or swiping with two fingers from the right edge of your trackpad). Scroll to the bottom and click Edit Widgets. Search for "FocusFlow" and drag the size you want into place. You can add multiple widgets in different sizes.

Spotify isn't connecting.

Open the Music tab inside FocusFlow and click Connect Spotify. A browser window will open for authentication. After approving, you'll be redirected back to FocusFlow automatically. If the redirect fails, make sure you have the Spotify app installed and that you're logged in.

Does FocusFlow work offline?

Yes. The Pomodoro timer, goals, calendar reading, ambient sounds and widgets all work fully offline. Only the Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music integrations require an internet connection.

Where is my data stored?

Everything stays on your Mac. Goals, Pomodoro sessions and weekly summaries are stored locally in SwiftData. Calendar events are read via EventKit and never leave your machine. We collect no analytics and no telemetry. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How do I reset my stats?

Open FocusFlow, click the gear icon in the menu-bar interface, scroll to Data, and choose Reset all stats. This permanently deletes all goals, sessions and focus-score history. This cannot be undone.

The timer keeps pausing during meetings.

That's the Meeting Auto-Pause feature working as designed. FocusFlow detects upcoming calendar events and gently pauses your session so you don't miss a call. You can disable it in Settings → Calendar → Auto-pause before meetings.

Can I suggest a feature?

Absolutely — please do. Email danielgudu22@gmail.com with your idea. Feature requests from real users drive the roadmap.

I found a bug. How do I report it?

Please email danielgudu22@gmail.com with: (1) what you were doing, (2) what you expected to happen, (3) what actually happened, and (4) your macOS version and FocusFlow version (found in Settings → About). Screenshots help a lot.

What are the system requirements?

FocusFlow requires macOS 14.0 Sonoma or later. It's optimized for Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3 and newer) but also runs on Intel Macs that support macOS 14.

How much does FocusFlow cost?

Pricing will be announced at launch on the Mac App Store. Follow the project or check back here for updates.
